Love this. I want to make meal time fun and not a chore. We are italian and too like to eat, taking our time, enjoying every bite… strangely I have been blessed with an adorable son who is not interested in food (yet) (GASP!); he is 2! As suggested by Karen on a GlobalTV interview I am trying to work at not pestering/forcing food at meal times…but saying ok you don’t have to eat now, maybe you’ll like dinner better. And NOT being paranoid of having to offer snacks to compensate – they will not starve…. (this is my mantra thanks to Le Billon!) Thank you thank you!
i liked OotBF fb page, Karen Le Billon’s fb page and shared this story. I would love to read the book!
Sincerely,
mom with pickiest eater on the planet
So the French seem to be in the spotlight these days…if you get a chance (and haven’t done so already), read the book Bringing up Bebe, by Pamela Druckerman. They really have mastered this whole parenting thing. Since marrying into a French family and seeing it firsthand, I can attest they have nailed it (for the most part;) ).
I like it
I have now began following Out of the Box on Pinterest.
I am a first time mom who is NOW starting to become aware of the importance of eating habits as I think about how I want to raise my now 10 month old daughter. I am honestly intrigued by even just the title of this book and would love to read it. I would therefore like to start off with rule #1, that I the parent am in charge of food education.

I am looking forward to mealtime with my 11 month old son. I can’t wait to put some of these great ideas to use!
I teach preschool and with an enormous organic veggie garden the children eat very well. I just enrolled a child who is a picky eater and want to share info with her parents who are doing the short order cook routine. Thanks or the inspiration.
I did #s 1-2-3-4-7 and 8! SoVERY interested!
I love #9. Eating real food rather than man-made chemical infused foods is the only way!
I will be implementing #7 – no snacking. My daughter really does eat everything (and we’re not even French!), but has gotten into a bad habit with snacks lately.
I am trying to remember food rule # 4 ! The no distractions part is the hardest!

We do many of these already. We are definitely having a food revolution in our kitchen. The newest one we have implemented is our daughter eats what we eat. I used to make her quesadillas and sandwiches on the side. I have quit short order cook status. Now she eats what we eat. We also drink green smoothies everyday. I think we still need to work on not using sweet treats as a prize or bribe. Instead reward with family time. Love your site!

Bonjour!
I like the “You don’t have to like it, but you do have to taste it.” I try to reintroduce foods every couple of months and my kids do need to try everything. Tastes change and many times they will like it after trying it a few times
Love each food rule! I have 2 months to go before my little one starts solid food but already thinking about these things.

I like all ten French Food Rules, and implement all except for No Snacking. I’m still working on that one.
Love it!,
Following multiple boards on Pinterest. I feed children as part of my childcare and already follow the 10 rules on this poster. Just love how they look in poster form. Sharing on my facebook page for parents to think about.
