ICEE makeover – Fresh Juice Treat

I’m no stranger to the challenge of getting kids to eat fruit and veggies.  I have one child that will eat pretty much any veggie you put in front of him – – but won’t touch fruit.  And another who literally would hide blueberries under his highchair cushion when he was a baby for fear of someone taking his precious fruit — but won’t touch a vegetable.  Therein lies the conundrum that many most of us face:  How do we get our kids to eat, let alone enjoy, their fruit and vegetables? Homemade Pop Tarts – With a Twist

I’ve seen quite a few homemade Pop Tart recipes on the internet.  They look delicious and fun, but for me they were still made with white flour, and well –  I wanted to find a way to bring them even further Out of the Box.  These homemade Pop Tarts are chock full of whole grain wheat, flax meal, and fresh fruit – Making them a win in both taste and nutrition. Jello Fruit Wedges

What kid doesn’t love jello?  It’s chilled, wiggly texture make it a fun treat for kids of all ages.  But packaged jello contains a litany of artificial colors and ingredients, making it not only unhealthy, but a bit frightening as well.

This week we’ve taken jello out of the past and brought it front and center to 2012 – a time of Real Food for real families. This jello is made with all natural, fresh squeezed juice and then chilled in the fruits original skin, making it wholesome and fun! (more…)
